The hardware component of document imaging is the type of device used to physically scan a printed document and convert it to an electronic format. Scanning hardware is often times coupled with
document imaging software to handle image manipulation and/or distribution.
There are a variety of types of scanning devices, including document scanners, network scanners and MFPs.
